Weight Loss Journey

June 15, 2009

This is my blog dedicated to the journey I started on February 24th 2009, the day after my 30th Birthday, into the world of Weight watchers and weight loss. I signed up to Weight Watchers on their internet site and started tracking my daily food intake and working out the points of everything i ate from this day. The first Weight Watchers meeting I attended was 1 week later, on Monday 2nd March 2009, when I weighed in at 13 stone 5.5 lbs. I am 5 foot 11 inches tall and according the BMI chart presented to me at the meeting the maximum I should weight is 12 stone 11 lbs. So I was very overweight. I had been overweight before, and I had managed to slim down through healthier eating and more exercise. Yet this time it was very different. No matter how hard I tried and how much I exercised whatever I was doing was not working, as I was not losing weight. My health was suffering and I was getting breathless just after 5 minutes walking down the road. I also suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome and was suffering from increasingly worse daily fatigue. I have a little daughter born in 2008 and I realised that I wanted to be a healthy, active dad who she could be proud of. I saw how well Weight Watchers had worked for another male friend of mine, and although I still had the stigma of how Weight watchers was for women attached to me I took the plunge, as I have done with so many other areas of my life these past few months (see my various other blogs for how I have Escaped to many other Journeys and worlds to conquer other various problems!).

To cut a long story short, and the last few months have been long and hard, as I am as food obsessed as anyone can get, I managed to hit my first Weight watchers target, to lose 10% of my starting body weight on 26th May 2009, just 13 weeks after my first weigh in. It was not an easy journey, and I am currently still pushing further to hit my goal weight of 12 stone 9 lbs, but it does prove that Weight Watchers works and I have been motivated to share some of my experiences, tips and tricks to help other people like me.
This blog will focus solely on tools and advice to lose weight. All my other thoughts, ramblings and eccentricities will be in my other blogs, the links to which can be found on this blog. Anything with an “Escape To ………” is one of my blogs!

Enjoy and good luck on your own journeys.
